Get Involved

There are so many different ways people have been getting involved in Elmer’s Big Parade Suffolk; from our 55 generous sponsors, to the 85 schools and youth groups who have been busy fundraising and painting their young Elmer sculptures, not to mention the members of the public who love to pop by and say ‘hi’ at our events – we have been amazed at how quickly the Ipswich community has taken Elmer to their hearts and the affection with which our campaign has been greeted.

If you are interested in being a part of our fantastic campaign, there is still time. We are looking for 30 volunteer Trailmakers, celebrating 30 years of both Elmer and St Elizabeth Hospice, to assist with the smooth running of the trail when it all goes live. If you think you might have what it takes, please visit out Trailmaker page to find out more.

Sponsors

All 55 of our beautiful Elmer sculptures have been sponsored by a whole range of generous and supportive local companies. To see the full list, please visit our Partners and Sponsors page.

Artists

Our call for artists last year was incredible. We were blown away by the talent on show through the designs we received and it really was a difficult choice for our shortlisting panel. Just a few months on and all our sculptures have now been painted and are looking stunning – a big thank you to all you wonderful artists who have worked so hard. We can’t wait to share them with the world!

Learning Herd

Our herd of 85 young Elmers have all now been happily adopted by a whole host of schools and youth organisations across Ipswich and the local area. Those involved have worked so hard and we have been extremely impressed by the standard of designs and the quality of execution of the Learning Herd sculptures. The young Elmer sculptures will be revealed for the first time at the Suffolk Show on 29 and 30 May, before joining the main parade out around Ipswich from the middle of June.

Events

Elmer the Patchwork Elephant is taking a little rest now that he is ‘trail ready’; he wants to look his best when meeting you all out on the parade!

You may still occasionally see him out and about, or perhaps our ‘Mystery Elephant’ who is keeping his seat on the truck warm for now, so be sure to snap a selfie and share it on our social media pages if you do!
