Lovable children’s favourite Elmer the Patchwork Elephant will be joining in the Halloween half-term fun at Ipswich’s busy Sailmakers Shopping Centre this week.
The popular pachyderm will be making a trunk call at the Centre, which is a sponsor for Elmer’s Big Parade Suffolk 2019, for four days of free spooktacular activities starting on Thursday and running through until Sunday.
And Sailmakers is looking for Suffolk’s scariest Halloween horror when it holds a fancy dress photograph competition on Spooky Saturday with Elmer guesting in the picture.
All the pictures will go up on Facebook and the winner of the competition, to be announced on Friday, November 2, will receive a fantastic shopping prize at Sailmakers.
Throughout the four-day event Elmer will be on hand as youngsters enjoy four fun-filled days of ghostly goings-on featuring some ghoulish arts and crafts with a suitably spectral theme for three-year-olds upwards on Thursday and Friday 12pm to 5pm.
The free family event, which will also see special offers from Centre retailers, will include face painters, ghostly arts and crafts and fun-filled Halloween games like Witch Hat Toss and Halloween Bowling.
Event organiser Hayley Kay said:
“I’m sure we’ll have a wonderful time. Sailmakers is such a popular Centre and very family-orientated.”
Mike Sorhaindo, Manager of Sailmakers Shopping Centre, said:
“We love putting on something special and spooky for Halloween and this treat should be just the trick and we’ve got Elmer coming along as a bonus. It makes a visit to the Centre different and it’s lovely to see the children enjoying themselves and doing something creative.”
Norman Lloyd, Elmer’s Big Parade Suffolk Campaign Manager at St Elizabeth Hospice, said:
“We are pleased that Elmer can spend some time in Sailmakers over the half term break. He always proves really popular with adults and children alike so it is great to have him out in such a family friendly space – and he just loves having his photo taken so this activity sounds perfect!”
